Ross W. Greene, PhD, is the Director of the Collaborative Problem Solving Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He specializes in the treatment of explosive, inflexible, easily frustrated children and adolescents. He is also Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Greene's research focuses on the classification, longitudinal study, and treatment of inflexible, easily frustrated, explosive children; long-term outcomes in socially impaired children with ADHD; and student-teacher compatibility.

Dr. Ross Greene's New Work

During this day-long workshop, Dr. Greene will draw from his recent book (co-authored by Stuart Ablon), Treating Explosive Kids: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach to help professionals better understand how the Collaborative Problem Solving approach can inform the work they do. Based on the ground breaking approach popularized in Dr. Greene*s acclaimed parenting guide, The Explosive Child, Dr. Greene will provide a detailed framework for effective, individualized intervention with highly oppositional children and their families. He will also share examples to show how to identify the specific cognitive factors that contribute to explosive and noncompliant behavior, remediate these factors, and teach children and their adult caregivers how to solve problems collaboratively. Dr. Greene will also describe challenges that may arise when implementing the model and provide clear and practical solutions.

Conference is sponsored by the following organizations:

* Iowa Federation of Families for Children*s Mental Health

* Iowa Residential Educators
* Magellan Behavioral Care of Iowa
